National:
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, TX. Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. In 1955, Women in Construction gained its national charter and became the National Association of Women in Construction. The core purpose of NAWIC is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry. Visit www.nawic.org for more information.
NAWIC Atlanta Scholarship Foundation:
The purpose of the NAWIC Atlanta Scholarship Foundation (NASF) is to promote and enhance the construction industry by granting scholarship assistance and offering educational opportunities to students pursuing academic studies in construction related fields.
In 2005, members of NAWIC Atlanta created the NAWIC Atlanta Scholarship Foundation to further the commitment to creating and sustaining a strong educated workforce in the construction industry.
